Si alcanzáis de Teresa que a Leonardo
los dones de su pluma inspirar quiera,
¿la de cuál escritor subió a la esfera,
oh Jerónimo, en rapto más gallardo?
Que fije en él su fervoroso dardo
le pedid, como a madre no severa;
veréis si quedara, cuando le hiera,
tibio al intento, o en las alas tardo.
Volará a diligencia tan briosa,
que de algún serafín parezca el vuelo,
a quien la claridad suprema endiosa.
Deba, sin este aplauso, a vuestro celo
que la esperanza de su fe animosa
en posesión se le convierta el cielo.
