La llama recatada que encubierta
la tuvo justo miedo de advertida
vuelva ahora de afectos impelida
al sol que la fomenta descubierta.
Amor es quien la sopla y quien despierta
mi antigua pena, al parecer dormida,
amor que alarga a mi deseo la vida,
y no da vida a mi esperanza muerta.
Yo estoy muriendo en medio de este fuego,
en esperar, y no en sufrir cobarde,
penas de olvido, olvido de mi muerte.
Mas no dejo de ver estando ciego
que no hay remedio, o bien que ya no tarde,
ni mal que contra mí no se concierte.
