Vencido ya de tanta indiferencia
de pesares, señora, en esta tierra,
para escribir los que mi alma encierra,
sin tenerla de vos tomé licencia;
Francia me recibió con pestilencia;
como madrastra, España me destierra;
en Flandes vi lo que llamamos guerra,
pareciome menor que la de ausencia.
Este de mi cambio fue el progreso,
y aún peor lo esperé de mi partida;
lo demás os dirán lágrimas tristes.
El caso acreditó cualquier exceso,
y Amor me obliga a que siquiera os pida
que no olvidéis la muerte que me distes.
