Como la simple mariposa vuela,
que tornos y peligros multiplica,
hasta que alas y vida sacrifica
en lo piramidal de la candela.

Así del tiempo advierte la cautela
una pasión de desengaños rica,
y su inadvertimiento califica
las injurias que busca y no recela.

De semejante impulso que el alado,
cándido, aunque lascivo pensamiento,
a morir me conduce mi cuidado,

y me voy por mis pasos al tormento
sin que se deba el mal solicitado
los umbrales pisar del escarmiento.
