De aquella pura imagen prometida,
que en la mente inmortal se fue formando
van especies confusas consagrando
en comprensión a luz tan excesiva.
Mas la pasión de amor, fuerza es querida,
su deleitable idea alimentando
con imposible bien, acreditando
ansias forzosas en que muerto viva.
En la forma, la acción, halla razones
la voluntad que a la razón sujeta,
porque nace invencible apasionada.
Y entre la confusión de estas acciones
sigue la fe la parte más perfecta
y menos de los fines aprobada.
