Cuando apenas las lágrimas enjugo,
que lloro la razón, bebió la afrenta,
vuelvo con más aviso y menos cuenta
a entregarle mi cuello al propio yugo.

Sacar de un pedernal pretende jugo
quien sigue voluntad de amor exenta,
con aviso costoso del que intenta
hallar piedad en manos del verdugo.

No pudo ser herido de otro brazo,
ni en otro pecho cabe la herida,
que no contiene término su plazo;

circunstancia de ofensa presumida,
la cuerda aflojo, aunque conozco el lazo,
que a ciegos nudos vinculó la vida.
