Pulse en dulce quietud canoro leño,
si no escuchado plectro, plectro blando,
hoy que rústicos himnos emulando
de fatigas de amor me desempeño.

Ya que de mis acciones no soy dueño
de avisos en los sauces coronando
en clima aunque infeliz viva logrando
sin culpa el ocio y sin cuidado el sueño.

Recoja, no ya lágrimas Henares,
voces sí, de una voz que al tiempo pudo
violar su ley con bien sentido canto.

Fiaré a la corteza mis pesares,
de la que ninfa un tiempo, hoy tronco rudo
tanto dio que sentir y calló tanto.
