- XXVI -

Non de otra guisa el índico serpiente
teme la encantación de los egipcios
que vos temedes, señora exçellente,
cualquiera relaçión de mis servicios.
Porque sabedes, presente o absente,
mis pensamientos e mis exerçiçios
son loarvos e amarvos solamente,
pospuesta cura de todos offiçios.
Oídme agora, después condenadme,
si non me fallardes más leal
que los leales; e si tal, sacadme
de tan grand pena e sentid mi mal.
E si denegades, acabadme:
peor es guerra que non lid campal.
