Alégrome de ver aquella tierra,
non menos la çibdad e la morada,
sean planiçies o campos o sierra,
donde vos vi yo la primer jornada.

Mas luego vuelvo e aquesto matierra
pensando cuanto es infortunada
mi triste vida, porque la mi guerra
non fue de passo, mas es de morada.

¿Fue visto bello o lid tan mortal
do non se viessen pazes o suffrencia,
nin adversario tanto capital

que non fuese pungido de conçiencia,
sinon vos sola sin par nin egual,
do yo non fallo punto de clemençia?
