Blando hechizo de amor, dulce veneno,
que en la viveza de mi pecho ardiente
introduciste artificiosamente
tanta ponzoña en vaso tan ameno,

si ya en las llamas de tu fuego peno,
si el duro yugo el corazón no siente,
y a la ley de tu imperio está obediente,
aunque es imperio de violencias lleno,

¿por qué con tiranía me condenas
después de hallar el bien que he deseado
a que arrastre en tus triunfos más cadenas?

Y, creciendo cuidado a mi cuidado
cuando el alivio ofreces de mis penas,
¿me haces penar en un amor callado?
