Al pacífico mar su leño entrega
marinero feliz, y en salvamento,
a pesar de las aguas y del viento,
coronado de flámulas navega.
Otro se atreve al mar, y apenas llega
cuando sufre el rigor de este elemento.
Tal es a la mujer el casamiento;
una se salva en él, otra se anega.
Vívese en paz y amor cuando hay ventura,
mas cuando el hado con rigor porfía,
¿qué puede la virtud y la hermosura?
No sé que tal será la suerte mía;
sé que dice el proverbio: «Poco dura
en casa del tahúr el alegría.»
