A la fábula de Psiquis y Cupido, a don Juan de Vidarte
La Ninfa que del Sol borró luciente
uno y otro esplendor, y a quien rendido
rayo menor se confesó Cupido
aun del arpón armado más ardiente;
la que triunfó de amor, y solamente
(bien que sin fe) le mereció marido,
la que el bulto atendiéndole dormido
temió deidad al que creyó serpiente.
Es hoy culto, Vidarte, mi argumento
y vuestra protección, bien que la espuma
no sin ejemplo vuelo teme errante.
Mas si vos me inspiráis divino aliento,
conservarán los ecos de mi pluma
el dulcísimo pórfido, el diamante.
