¿Comenzarán mis lágrimas, dos ríos,
que corran en presencia de tus rejas?
¿Acabará mi amor (pues que le dejas)
a manos de mis fuertes desvaríos?
¡Ay, dura ingrata, ay corazón de nieve!
Negarme un sí, pues me negaste tantos;
que él inspira mi vida larga, o breve.
Niégame un sí, que amor con sus encantos
hace que un no, que mis desdichas mueve,
pueda, al presente reposar mis llantos.
