- XXXV - Día primero de su amor
Cuando el Planeta que las horas cuenta,
el encanto de Cholcos encendía,
en la estación primera de aquel día,
que honró al actor su pueblo, que le afrenta;
Dio a la más cuerda Amor, la más sangrienta
flecha que dentro en su carcaj tenía,
y orgullosa con tanta valentía
entró al rendido corazón exenta.
Estaba yo sin armas descuidado,
y para honor de su cobarde hazaña
armas me dio el Amor, después de herido:
Pruebo herirle con ellas, está armado,
pruebo mi llanto, es su dureza extraña,
pruebo a rendirle a fuerza, estoy rendido.
