quizá por ver que el joven engañado
será en belleza vencedor primero.

Echase al agua, entiende verdadero
(¡oh necio amor!) fantástico traslado,
y por besar a su engañoso amado,
se bebe de la fuente el curso entero.

¡Oh lisonja! traición tarde sentida,
que si a ignorancia entronizada llegas,
eres la falsa en su mejor comida.

¡Ah, cuánto en esta edad Narciso ciegas!
¡cuánto pierdes amor, con cuánta vida!
¡cuánto entiendes que das, y cuánto niegas!
