Cuando es acaso la dorada flecha
que un tierno niño, al pecho de un gigante
puede tanto el amor con el amante
que al niño ensancha y al gigante estrecha.
Y así pues cera Fénix no está hecha;
o yo no estoy en forma de diamante
no nos hiere la flecha penetrante;
o está su fuerza natural deshecha.
¡Mas ay mísero yo! ¿cómo no hiere
si el corazón penetra por los ojos?
¿Cómo sin fuerza cuando el alma hiere?
Aquellos son de amor vanos antojos,
que es mi enemigo, y deshacerse quiere
para hacer mayores mis enojos.
