Si el Semidiós engendrador del justo,
que en tanta piedra impuso tanta vida,
por una antorcha que usurpó encendida,
ministro dulce del humano gusto.

En el Cáucaso preso, al más injusto
verdugo, al más cruel, por no homicida,
para la eterna penetrante herida,
expone el pecho, el corazón robusto;

que me querello yo, que aun imposible
atado esté con esperanza incierta,
y que un desdén me firma de tormento,

si en las luces del cielo inaccesible,
de Fénix encendí mi vista muerta,
mas ¡ay! que amor anima el sentimiento.
