En suspiros, y lágrimas deshecho,
se queda atrás un lustro de mis días,
sin da calor a tus entrañas frías,
ni enternecer tu endurecido pecho.

¿Cuándo escribió el amor en su derecho
leyes que obliguen a las penas mías?
¡Ah violento juez! cómo porfías
tiempo tanto en tormento tan estrecho

si es porque en mí tu culpa se castigue,
el verte en mis entrañas no diamante
como en tu ser a más piedad te obligue;

templa el rigor (si sabes) un instante,
sabe dejarte amar de quien te sigue;
que no es difícil como el ser amante.
