- XVII - Persuasión
Traslada el curso de las rejas duro
con sordos pasos a las blandas puertas,
que, si pretendes las del alma abiertas,
rotas las tiene ya mi llanto puro.
Ya es pretérito el tiempo que, futuro,
pudiera hacer mis esperanzas ciertas;
las horas miro a mis espaldas muertas,
que pretendí para vivir seguro.
Abre las puertas, ángel riguroso,
para que goce con descanso amigo,
tras tormento de amor, de amor reposo;
abre, si no las puertas, un postigo;
abre, que amor no es mal contagioso
ni es, aunque tira flechas, enemigo.
