- XIV - Jazmines, esperanza en blanco
Blancos jazmines, que en el blanco pecho
de mi cándida Fénix reposaste,
a quien color, a quien olor hurtaste
con ancha mano, si por tiempo estrecho.
Puesto que ya por natural derecho
parece que gozáis lo que usurpaste,
cómo, decid, a tanto bien llegaste,
que soy de envidia cual de amor deshecho.
Volved las hojas ya lenguas risueñas,
así no le paguéis a la mudanza
el censo a que os obliga haber nacido.
Pero no las volváis, que pues por señas
muestran agora en blanco mi esperanza,
dirán mi muerte, y tras mi muerte olvido.
