Tristes quejas de amor dilato al viento.
Serán, por tristes, de mi error castigo;
por quejas, nuevo honor de mi enemigo;
y por de amor, amantes escarmiento.
Será también la voz de mi instrumento
en el proceso de mi edad testigo,
y yo el áspero actor que a mí me sigo
y el culpado que canta en el tormento.
Vosotros, o jueces, o fiscales
(bien así que mis males, infinitos),
no me juzguéis si no sentís mis males;
que si buscáis castigo a mis delitos,
castigo tienen a su culpa iguales:
fuegos de amor abrasan mis escritos.
