Como al claro verano el turbio invierno,
la oscura noche al luminoso día,
al llanto de Memnón la melodía
dulce del simple pajarillo tierno,

como al morir en paz vivir eterno,
lágrimas en niñez a su alegría,
a los gozos de amor melancolía
y a sus glorias de celos un infierno,

así le sigue al ser mujer mudanza;
no hay firmeza en mujer, no hay cosa estable:
a la fortuna vence, al aire alcanza.

¡Oh tú, tirana, sé veloz, mudable!
Mas, ay, que temo ya de tu tardanza
ver el fin de Anajarte miserable.
