De Santa Juana

Quiere hacer un tapiz la industria humana
en donde el arte a la materia exceda,
y con su adorno componer se pueda
la pared de la cuadra más profana.

Matiza en el telar la mano ufana
y mezcla hilos con que hermoso queda;
pero entre el oro ilustre y noble seda
entreteje también la humilde lana.

Lo propio hace el amor, que mezcla y teje
con la lana la seda, aunque más valga,
igualando al villano con el noble.

Noble yerno me da, no es bien que deje,
que con mi lana y con su seda hidalga
saldrá el tapiz de amor curioso al doble.
