- XLIV -
Si por ser, Amarili, el amor fuego
lo pintan los filósofos desnudo,
y la belleza tuya sólo pudo
dar entrada en mi alma a aqueste ciego;
pues bella y sabia eres sin par, te ruego
quieras soltarme aqueste sutil nudo.
¿Por qué, de ti arredrado, ardiendo sudo,
y tiemblo helado cuando a ti me llego?
Dirás que eres mi fuego y que aborrezco
el morir abrasado cuando veo
tus llamas cerca, y de temor me enfrío;
mas ¿cómo si arder todo en ti deseo?
Fiebre debe de ser lo que padezco;
que para más arder comienza en frío.
