- XXXVIII -
¡Ay de mí! siempre, vana fantasía,
sin término dilatas tu remedio,
¿Cuándo será que libre de este asedio
de males me amanezca libre un día?
Rendirme será infame cobardía;
¿aguardaré? La muerte antes que el tedio
de una esperanza. Osar sólo es el medio.
Osemos; que es dichosa la osadía.
Hoy pondrás fin a vida tan amarga;
hoy, si bien sales hoy, corazón mío,
de ti sacudirás tan grave carga.
¿Quién aguarda a mañana mal prudente?
Que acabe de correr espera un río,
y él corre y correrá perpetuamente.
