- XXV -
Ando tan altamente que no alcanza
al sujeto la vista, sólo verse
puede por fe, y por fe comprenderse
aquella excelsa luz sin semejanza.
Ni un átomo de sombra de esperanza
a mi suerte jamás puede atreverse,
antes llegó mi amor a prometerse
en vivo fuego bienaventuranza.
Que sólo lo inmortal respeta y ama,
nunca por lo posible se enajena,
como no aspira a causa transitoria;
antes, si en la pureza de la llama
es la gloria lo acerbo de la pena,
no ha de poder faltarme en pena gloria.
