Mal inclinado pájaro de Averno
que los otros benévolos infama,
de tu estambre vital cortó la trama,
de tronco ya glorioso ramo tierno.
Caíste en flor y anticipado invierno,
las luces usurpando de tu fama,
en años breves extinguió la llama
que tu nombre en dos vidas hace eterno.
En tiempo no, en prudencia, Antonio, cano,
al pisar los umbrales de la vida,
Atropos dividió tu vital hilo,
en dulce acento suspirando en vano,
de la que, prenda tuya esclarecida,
siempre te llama en doloroso estilo.
