- CXXIII -

Esta verde eminencia, esta montaña,
madre de tanto argento fugitivo,
de venusta deidad quizás festivo
teatro, honor fue ya de la campaña.
Esta, pues, con amargo llanto baña
Tirso, al remedio muerto, al dolor vivo,
cuando las ansias de un dolor esquivo
con dulcísimos números engaña.
Las aguas, a su acento detenidas,
hermosas mayas en conforme coro
de corona le sirven animada;
suspensas unas, otras condolidas,
tanto en métrica puede lira de oro
bien sentida pasión, bien escuchada.
