¿Qué mar es este, Amor? ¿Qué confianza
pondrá en tus ondas el osado pecho,
si disfrazas el daño en el provecho
y tienes más peligro en la bonanza?
Cuando el aliento vence a la tardanza,
vengo a quedar en lágrimas deshecho,
porque el vivir de engaños satisfecho
dudas cultiva en sustos de mudanza.
¡Oh dura ley de amor, que el no guardalla
naturaleza y no costumbre sea
de quien no da placer sin desengaños!
Dudoso muere el que ofendido calla,
y su agravio averigua el que granjea
con la solicitud los propios daños.
