Dos veces de Favonio el blando aliento
dejó estas plantas en su honor logradas,
y aquí otras dos veces despojadas
a la tierra entregaron su ornamento,
después que, idolatrado mi tormento,
sigo, Amor, esperanzas engañadas,
primero desmentidas que formadas
en la ilusión de un ciego pensamiento.
¿Qué espera la razón, cómo no advierte
sentidos sordos ya con voces mudas,
de oráculos que avisa desengaños?
Al que contra sí mismo sólo fuerte
escrúpulos absuelve, vence dudas,
en la fe porfiado de sus daños.
