Contradicen razón y entendimiento
las trazas y remedios que imagino,
y si Amor busca en vano algún camino,
sólo llega por él al escarmiento.
Es cuchillo del alma el pensamiento,
siendo del cierto mal, cierto adivino,
y siendo tanto aqueste desatino,
que desatino más cuanto más siento.
Si a mí quiere volverme en tal estado,
el errar por costumbre no me deja
percibir cual me tienen mis engaños.
Siendo yo el ofensor y el agraviado,
el autor de la causa y de la queja,
y el que causa y padece tantos daños.
