- XLIV -

Ausencia de dos almas es distancia,
y debe ser distancia, mas no ausencia,
cuando amor en ideas de presencia,
de inseparable unión forma constancia.
De afectos puros lícita jactancia
mental, opuesta a material violencia,
para que con su aliento la paciencia
sea corona la fe de tolerancia.
Los ojos que del ínfimo elemento
originaron su común defecto
lloren ciegos y ríndanse mortales.
La parte superior del pensamiento,
en complicados nudos con su objeto,
logre prendas de fines inmortales.
