Es tan glorioso y alto el pensamiento,
que me mantiene en vida y causa muerte,
que no sé estilo o medio con que acierte
a declarar el bien y el mal que siento.
Dilo tú, Amor, que sabes mi tormento,
y traza un nuevo modo que concierte
estos varios extremos de mi suerte,
que alivian con su causa el sentimiento.
En cuya pena, si es glorioso efeto
el sacrificio de la fe más pura
que está ardiendo en las aras del respeto,
ose el amor, si teme la ventura,
que entre misterios de un dolor secreto
amar es fuerza, y esperar locura.
