Son tus claras virtudes, gran Fernando,
más que tu fama, y sólo tú más que ellas,
y vencida la envidia en gloria de ellas
a ti mismo tú mismo estás premiando.
De fin caduco, pues, fin despreciando,
tu dictamen pisando las estrellas,
el gran progreso de tus obras sellas
a inmortal luz tu nombre trasladando.
Claro por sangre y por virtud famoso,
a tus mismos efectos semejante,
como en celo, en talento prodigioso.
Del tiempo vencedor sólo bastante
a sustentar el peso peligroso
que teme Alcides, y que gime Atlante.
