¿Qué me quieres, tiránica porfía,
con insultos de bárbara violencia?
¿A un tiempo ha de ser culpa la paciencia,
y mérito y virtud la tiranía?
Premie el tiempo su misma idolatría,
cubra modesto manto la insolencia,
y bandido el candor de la inocencia
niéguese a la virtud la luz del día.
En el rigor inicuo, en la cautela
de esta injuria, obstinada tolerancia
parecerá modestia y es locura.
Por esto mi fortuna ahora apela
Corte y Palacio, para tu instancia
menos acomodada y más segura.
