- XXXVIII -
Amor es un misterio que se cría
en las dulces especies de su objeto;
de causas advertidas luz y efeto,
y de ciegos efectos ciega guía.
Fraude que apeteció la fantasía,
imán del daño, acíbar del secreto,
de tirana deidad, ley sin preceto,
de preceptos sin ley leal porfía.
En cielo oscuro tempestad serena,
apacible pasión, dulce fatiga,
lisonja esquiva, lisonjera pena.
Premio que mata, alivio que castiga,
causa que, propiamente siendo ajena,
con lo que más ofende más obliga.
