En tus penates hoy, sacro escarmiento,
cuelgo la quilla de mi rota nave,
que del mar de fortuna el rigor sabe,
y los impulsos de contrario viento.

Pondrá del tiempo este prodigio exento,
si digno olvido de tus iras cabe,
en quien sublime ya, y ahora grave,
tumba le cubre el húmedo elemento.

A quejas halle mudo, sordo a ruegos,
undoso dios de senos inconstantes,
cuando sirenas visten sus marinas.

Sean, pues, de la fortuna en mares ciegos,
a peligros de amantes navegantes,
mi voz aviso y norte mis ruinas.
