Imagen celestial, cuya belleza
no puede sin agravio ser pintada,
porque mano mejor, más acertada,
no fió tanto a la naturaleza.
En esto verá el arte su flaqueza,
quedando, vida y muerte, así pintada;
está menos hermosa que agraviada,
sin quedarlo la mano en su destreza.
De esta falta del arte, vos, señora,
no quedáis ofendida, porque el raro,
divino parecer no está sujeto.
Retrato propio vuestro es el aurora,
retrato vuestro el sol cuando es más claro,
vos, retrato de Dios el, más perfeto.
