Hágame el tiempo cuanto mal quisiere
y nunca de mis daños se contente,
que no me he de perder inútilmente
por lo que sin propósito dijere.
Gobierne bien o mal el que tuviere
a su cargo las leyes de la gente,
que a mí, y a mi censor impretendiente,
no hay mudanza de estado que me altere.
Lleve mi confianza por el suelo
sus alas, pues parece que no acierta
el que se atreve a peligroso vuelo;
quede mi queja y esperanza muerta,
pues vemos que la envidia más que el celo
a la murmuración abrió la puerta.
