Rocas que a la verdura de este llano
le servís de corona o de muralla
cuyo hielo, que es hoy rígida malla,
fuerza solar pretende abrir en vano.
De esta misma esperanza el horror cano
que al Olimpo le intima otra batalla,
cristal la nieve hiciera, y al soltalla,
diera al monte sus hojas el verano.
De los tiempos alternan los efectos,
y, los efectos alternando caos,
orden guarda aun lo mismo que van.
Sólo, más poderosos o imperfectos,
astros de luz y de piedad escasos
niegan intermisión al ansia mía.
