Figura que, pasando el tiempo engaña,
flor que marchita el caluroso estío,
ampolla hecha en el agua ya por frío,
correo de la muerte, débil caña;
sombra que hace tela de una araña,
ave ligera, despeñado río,
hoja del agua y veloz navío
que navega este mar a tierra extraña;
un punto indivisible, un breve sueño,
corrido sueño y muerte prolongada
es la vida del hombre desabrida.
¡Miserable de mí!, si es tan pequeño
el curso de mi edad, que es casi nada,
¿por qué pasé tan mal tan corta vida?
