- CVII - Segunda parte de las Rimas al Conde de Olivares
Excelso Conde, si a la hiedra errante,
ánimo das que de mi estéril Soto,
con labio humilde, si con pie devoto;
la planta besa tu laurel constante.
Lozana harás, que su verdor levante,
al cielo del Antípoda remoto,
dando tu nombre entero a cincel roto;
a bronce duro, y a inmortal diamante.
Así suele en el auge sol luciente,
calificar lustrando si le mira,
cristal estrecho, de encogida fuente.
Tu Sol de eternidad vuelve mi Lira,
y en su temor retratarás la ardiente
trompa, que a eterna duración aspira.
