¿Por qué Fénix permites, que padezca,

si es por no merecerte, no es engaño,
que por nacer está quien te merezca.

No, que soy tan indigno te parezca,
aunque (cual ves) me cubre tosco paño,
que no confiere amor (cuando es tamaño)
que vil materia sus ardores crezca.

Sacrificado a tu belleza pura
tienes mi pecho, admite sus ardores,
si has de admitirlos, de mortal criatura;

y si han de merecer tus amadores,
por valor natural tu hermosura,
tú sola ten a tu belleza amores.
