¿Hielo, y fuego de Amor, ceniza, y llama,
qué pretendéis en mi cansado pecho?
¿cuál hurto? ¿cuál rigor? ¿cuál daño he hecho
cuyo justo castigo así me infama?
¿Qué voz ministros os incita y llama,
donde no hay vencimiento de provecho?
Hareisme que aborrezca a mi despecho,
si tanto le apretáis a quien bien ama.
Templad estos extremos un instante,
si es que mi destemplanza os lo consiente,
diferencia del muerto, al que es amante.
¡Mas ay mísero yo! que estoy ausente,
sufrid pecho, sufrid, nada os espante,
que no es la muerte, a ausencia diferente.
