Ya que apagado el fuego, y suelto el lazo
esta, con que me vi, encendido, y preso,
alegre vuelvo al primitivo seso,
mal grado del amor, y su embarazo.

La dulce libertad amada abrazo,
y en todo absuelto mi mortal proceso,
cuando el error que cometí confieso,
el pecho en penitencia despedazo.

Mi vida presumió que acabaría
Fénix cruel, y a otro se dio, burlome,
mas yo sane, no así mientras fue mía,

cuando trató de amarme, aborreciome,
y cuando se mostró que me ofendía,
en vez de ofensa aborreciendo amome
