Hermosa Fénix, si la luz serena
de vuestros claros ojos no abrasara,
su pureza de voto contemplara,
que al no encendido, al temerario enfrena;

mas si mi vista enciende y desordena,
cual suele el viento y fuego a polvo y vara,
si, aunque se oculta, siempre ostenta clara
purpúrea rosa y cándida azucena,

¿cómo queréis que mire vuestros ojos
menos que con intento así advertido?
Ausente estoy mejor, si os causo hinojos:

adiós, Fénix, adiós, que voy perdido;
huyendo voy de amor y sus antojos,
mas, ay, que viene a la memoria asido.
