Entre Scila y Caribdis está el voto,
y la obediencia aquel, titubeaba
en alta mar de confusiones brava
con frágil leño la razón piloto.
Cuando pudiera estar el timón roto,
y el árbol desgajado, firme estaba,
que la perdiz cual Alción mostraba
serenó el mar a Nicolás devoto.
¡Oh mil veces dichoso marinero!
a quien el cielo como más amigo
en vez de norte destinó un lucero.
Seguro velas das al santo abrigo
no temas dulce Amielas el mar fiero
que van la Virgen, y Agustín contigo.
