- CXVI - Dafne

Los blandos pies, por entre tierra dura,
solicitan sus dedos, ya apartados,
los claros miembros de corteza armados,
apenas tiemblan, de la muerte oscura.
Huye el alma de tanta desventura,
y cabellos y brazos levantados,
unos se ven renuevos delicados,
y otros muestran en ramas su figura.
Quisiera Dafne ver el tronco honroso,
pero nacieron de sus ojos ramas,
porque a tan grande mal falten testigos.
Oh Apolo más que amante riguroso,
si de esta suerte sigues a quien amas
¿cómo di, seguirás tus enemigos?
