Tisbe a su amante, que en cadáver mira
con temerosa mano el rostro toca,
límpiale con los cabos de la toca
y en los labios desiertos le suspira.
Engañada imagina que respira
y es el aliento de su misma boca;
su fin estudia, a su maestro invoca,
sus manos tuerce, sus cabellos tira.
Nadie le ayuda en tanta desventura
sino la muerte, ¡oh caso lastimoso!,
el pecho arroja a la enemiga espada;
asió la mano de su esposo dura,
y mirose en el tálamo espantoso
doncella, viuda, muerta y desposada.
