- LXXX - A un favor de Laurel y Mirto

Fénix de hoy más a vuestro sol, que inflama
mi amante corazón pondré la frente,
pues es defensa contra el rayo ardiente
para mis ojos del Laurel la rama.
Hoy más el pecho a la ardorosa llama,
exento llegará de su accidente,
que el soñoliento Mirto no consiente
colérico dolor en quien bien ama.
Hoy más libre, y desnudo el pensamiento
sólo del santo ardor preso, y vestido
dará vuestra alabanza a mi instrumento.
El instrumento le dará al oído,
él a la voz común, la voz al viento,
y el viento abrace, contra el sordo olvido.
